What is it?
If you are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes, Walking Away From Diabetes can help reduce your likelihood of developing it, while increasing long term health. You will develop an increased understanding of diabetes as well as strategies to reduce your risk through increased physical activity and healthy eating. Walking Away From Diabetes is a 3 hour group workshop for those who have had past gestational diabetes mellitus, impaired fasting glucose or impaired glucose tolerance.
Who runs the program?
The workshops are run by two trained facilitators. Depending on the content being delivered these may be made up of nurses, dietitians or exercise physiologists.

Accessing the program
Walking Away from Diabetes can be accessed by GP referral or self referral. Referral forms can be found under the "For GPs" tab on this website.
Workshops may attract a $30 out of pocket fee.
